Join us for the TRC’s monthly discussion with a local entrepreneurial individual who has demonstrated tenacity and creativity in their professional life through career changes, business ventures, and self-directed adult learning. This event is free to the public.
This month’s speaker: Sheer Brown
Sheer Brown is the owner and baker behind a Jewish and Israeli pastry business South Bend Challah Company based in South Bend, Indiana. Originally from Tel Aviv, Israel, Sheer moved to the US in 2019 and started her baking business in December 2020 as a way to cope with the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic and to bring a taste of home to her new community.
Sheer’s baked goods are inspired by a combination of Eastern European Jewish pastries and Mediterranean Middle Eastern flavors, creating a unique and flavorful experience. She uses some old grandmother’s traditions and techniques to create her delicious pastries.
Sheer has been featured twice in Edible Michiana magazine and the Hometown Living morning show, showcasing her talent and passion for baking. Her future plans for her business include growing it and hiring workers to expand her reach and impact. Customers consistently rave about the taste and quality of her pastries, and Sheer’s business continues to grow as more people discover her delicious treats.
This event will take place during TRC’s “Open Work Wednesday”, where the TRC opens its community space for those working on public, private, or nonprofit projects. Stop in any time from 9am-5pm to do your normal work–but out of the TRC! You are encouraged to attend part of Open Work Wednesday, but not required.
