Comeback Cities Venture Capitalist Tour Comes to South Bend
Mayor Pete Buttigieg will host Representative Tim Ryan (D-OH) and a delegation of venture capitalists on a tour to get more investment flowing to companies in heartland cities. The tour will stop in South Bend on Friday, February 23 at 10:15 a.m. There will be a press conference following the meeting with venture capitalists, South Bend stakeholders, and Mayor Buttigieg.
The group will meet with local businesspeople, elected officials, and incubators in Youngstown, Akron, Detroit, Flint, and South Bend with the goal of having venture capitalists learn about startup activity and investment opportunities between the coasts. Together, these venture capitalists’ firms make more than $14 billion in investments, but have little experience investing in companies outside of a few major cities. Their funds have backed companies including SpaceX, Airbnb, Uber, Alibaba, Spotify, Facebook, Flexport, Zendesk, Twitter, Snap, etc.
This is a nonpartisan trip; the venture capitalists will meet with elected officials and businesses on both sides of the aisle.
